Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A-A01US 11.6-Inch Slate (64 GB, Win 7 HP)

Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A-A01US 11.6-Inch Slate (64 GB, Win 7 HP) ordered from circuit city, couldn't wait for Amazon to restock. arrived in two days via UPS. first impression: awesome tablet. possibly the closest thing to my dream tablet. for some time i've been holding back from buying the convertible laptops/tablet because of size, weight and lack of processing power. was planning to get the ep121 until this came out. right now it's adequate for my needs such as drawing and multimedia. applied tweaks I found reading through the tablet PC forums and they helped a lot dealing with the loss of pressure sensitivity in programs like sketchbook pro after you install the recommended asus tablet pen driver to get pressure sensitivity in other programs like painter. that forum is a lifesaver.re. bezel issue: I observed my tablet has this problem upon unboxing, but thankfully it's very negligible on my device. it's been 3 days since I got it and it hasn't gotten worse like some other owners reported. other than that everything is perfect so far.now if only they release those accessories posthaste.note: typing this using the Swype application, pretty cool.

Apple iPad 2 MC986LL/A Tablet (32GB, Wifi + Verizon 3G, white) 2nd Generation

i bought this from apple because amazon didn't have it yet. I am middle- aged, love my nano, a kindle devotee from the first days, don't have a smart phone, and am a pc user. at first i was awed by the touchscreen and the resolution quality. images are gorgeous. but now, it is really annoying. too often the screen doesn't respond, and then reacts when you don't even know you're touching it. the word processing function has been limited and limiting from the start, for someone accustomed to microsoft.if you think in buying the ipad you are getting a compact, fast, light computer, you are not. it IS fast. a computer it is not. no flash player is definitely a hinderance. what it is great for is apps, games, (although the screen has been frustrating there too), watching movies and tv shows, some browsing on the internet, and as a portable photo album, because images are truly fantastic on the ipad. i find the screen very fatiguing on my eyes, and have the brightness level down almost as far as it can go. i would never dream of reading a book on it. kindle has nothing to worry about, as far as the ipad as a reading device. the fact i can't see the ipad screen outside, even in the shade, is also unfortunate, but i get it, that's a backlit screen.i am submitting this review not to bash apple, but to clarify a bit to people not familiar with macs and/or touchscreens what this device is about. would i buy this device again? not unless it sold for maybe $300. it is more a toy than a tool.…

Apple iPad 2 MC987LL/A Tablet (64GB, Wifi + Verizon 3G, White) 2nd Generation

People need to be aware that the reviews you see for the iPad often reflect the old Mac/PC platform wars with some people making comments who simply don't like iPads from a distance, without actually owning one, because they see it as part of the deplorable Apple mania they find so distasteful. They're entitled to their opinion, of course, but it is unfortunate they skew the evaluation of this product without the deep acquaintance one needs in order to give it an insightful evaluation.I have taught computer science at the college level for 26 years and have had computers with all kinds of operating systems. I don't own Apple stock and have never known anyone who works at Apple. I therefore have no connection to Apple.I have had my iPad for about a month and read a fair number of reviews before I purchased, spent some time using one at the store, and thought about what I might use one for, in contrast to my laptop with which I am well satisfied. People too often think of computers in terms of hardware, the specs and looks, instead of the software and the functionality. You should ask yourself, "What will I use this for that solves a problem I would like to have solved?" Software is always more important than hardware, even though it is the hardware that makes an impression. The iPad is not a laptop and is not principally a production computer, that is, a computer on which you are going to develop web pages, do serious graphics editing, or write a book. You could use your…

X11 Pro - Dual Input Windows 7 Tablet - Wifi + 3G

I purchased one of these last week as a pilot to replace a dozen or so aging Gateway convertible tablets used by our sales force. We have a custom app that runs on Windows OS. Several of our salesmen have been trying a very awkward configuration of iPad > Remote Desktop > Mobile Broadband (Sprint Overdrive) > Internet > PC running Windows OS. Way too many links that could break in that chain.I've tried several different tablet options out there, but the active digitizer and 10 hr battery make this the best bet (at the moment) for our needs. I've only had the X11 for a few days, but so far it performs very well with the apps we run. I haven't loaded office on it yet so I can't comment on that. I haven't used the built-in broadband yet either.Compared to a typical laptop, the X11 is quite a bit more mobile. Easy to set on your lap, table, carry around, etc. The battery is fantastic. I can't say that I've gotten a full 10 hours out of it. I let it drain all the way as soon as I got it (as recommended in the included small instruction book) and then fully recharged it. With 99% battery life Windows 7 said I had 8.5 hours remaining. Fans are quite. Speakers aren't very loud, but okay.Compared to an iPad (I have both iPad 1 and 2) the Kupa feels a decent bit heavier and thicker, which also makes it feel sturdier in my opinion (couldn't yet tell you if it actually is). The combination of touch screen and active digitizer is really nice. You really need an active digitizer…

ASUS Eee Slate B121-A1 12.1-Inch Tablet PC - White

There are some fantastic and incredibly thorough reviews written by other folks already--as of this writing there are fewer than 20 Amazon product reviews for the B121, so please do yourself a favor and read them all. They contain fantastic product information as well as tips on how to avoid various pitfalls and challenges. Thanks to the folks who posted a great deal of concise information and how to suggestions! For instance, I would not have known that booting up with a flash drive inserted in the port would cause an error without the info posted here in the reviews!I purchased my ASUS B121 in January of this year and have enjoyed it. It is a niche device that allows me to do some things that I couldn't accomplish on an iPad and allowed me to skate by without purchasing a beefy laptop. (A side note: I purchased my B121 directly from Microsoft and had a terrible experience with them--I recommend you use any other vendor!)I am a student and needed a portable device that would allow me to draw, as well as use productivity software -- the B121 has fit that niche quite perfectly. I have CS5.5 installed, as well as other software, and have not had any issues or lag or anything like that.I recommend maxing out on your mini HD card as well as whatever flash drives you choose to use.I also have an external hard drive and external disc drive I use in conjunction with the B121. For some of my coursework while traveling, I also used a USB-plug in supplemental speaker as well. When using…
